Albania becomes member of UN’s HLG-PCCB

Ms Elsa Dhuli, acting Director General of INSTAT has been appointed as a member of UN’s HLG-PCCB since November 2019. The task of HLG-PCCB is to provide strategic leadership for the sustainable development goal implementation process as it concerns statistical monitoring and reporting.

The United Nations Statistics Division established HLG-PCCB (High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development) in 2015. The group consists of 23 countries. The other members from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe besides Finland are the Directors General of Albania’s, United Kingdom’s, Georgia’s, Switzerland’s and Hungary’s statistical institutes.

At its 15th meeting in November 2019, the HLG-PCCB established a sub-group tasked with preparing a first draft of the outcome document to be launched at the conclusion of the UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) in Bern taking place 18 to 21 October 2020. The sub-group is composed of the following members: Albania, Angola, Mexico, Palestine, Philippines, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, PARIS21 and UNSD. The sub-group has held four meetings; the most recent on 15th of July 2020 discussed the latest draft of the outcome document and the implications of having a virtual Forum

The High-Level Group on Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB) has drafted a short statement representing the Global Data Community's response to COVID-19 that presents the main issues facing the community at this time, the key actions the community should pursue around data and commitments for the future.
